　Sumo wrestlers have waves of ups and downs in their career. A wrestler who had lost the last tournament could become the champion of the next one. This is not only for sumo wrestlers, but also to a certain extent can be said for artists. Therefore for the next Somé Seiryuten exhibition, without fixed limitations, our nominating committee and selecting committee have commissioned artists to create works. In other words, the selecting committee (4 members: Yoshiyuki Fuji, Shigeki Fukunaga, Jyunji Ozawa, Rokuro Yamamoto and myself) deliberated and decided on the exhibitors from candidates who had been recommended by the nominating committee (5 members: Taizo Minakawa, Kageo Miura, Toshihiko Isa, Tsukio Kitano, Kazuko Shibuya). In this way, 39 artists have been nominated for the next exhibition. Like any other organization, as the years go by, organizations related to arts and crafts, whether large or small, also follow a certain mannerism. To avoid this, we have taken on a way for regeneration. However, for the world of art, we can’t simply say that it’s enough to just leave behind the old and replace it with the new. Therefore without any other solution, we thought of the above idea. Whether it will be successful or not, is left up to our viewers. We look forward to cooperation and understanding from admirers and lovers of textile dyeing.
