Dye Works Exhibition

Somé・Seiryukan Director Kimura Shigenobu

Recently, there have been many large movements in society all over the world. The fall of the Soviet Union is one example. When I hear of such news on the television or in the newspaper, I recall the following lines from Tarkofsky’s film Stalker, “Mankind exists to create. Searching for truth is like an illusion.” When breaking down materialistic ideology, I really understand these lines deep down inside myself. There is nothing more that I can say. This year the Second Somé Seiryuten exhibition will feature textile artists abundant with creativity. Furthermore, I am pleased if this exhibition contributes to the development of the art of textile dyeing in Japan. I am grateful for the heartfelt effort of Seiryukai members and sincerely wish for the success of this year’s Somé Seiryuten.
